I read the above headline on one of the news sites and I immediately thought of the last time a vehicle manufacturer designed their own shipping method. See picture.
More bizarre is that GM continued to use the side loading trailers built to move the Chevy Vegas from the Lordstown Assembly plant discharge point to the vehicle storage yard, in this tight door to door formation, up till the demise of the Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G4 in around 2010!
The Cavalier, Cobalt, and G4 were shipped via standard means, but were loaded sideways on special low slung trailers designed for the Vega in the mid 70's, for move to the vehicle storage yard.
