When I was getting my 9-5 serviced at Cold Brook Saab in Skowhegan, Maine. Started talking with a retired International Paper forester who was doing the same. He said the old 2 stroke Saabs were the best cars ever for driving back into the woods. They had a flexible pipe underneath that bounced over rocks, roots, etc. They always started, though sometimes it took awhile to add the oil at -20F. They had "throw-away" engines, so you could always just bolt in another. Sometimes moose ran alongside "so close they polished the paint." One year the company bought Land Rovers which sucked because they wouldn't start in cold weather.
Once he was driving his personal Saab and hit a moose. The state trooper said "that car doesn't look like it hit a moose." The forester said "he's right over there..."
