I would say there is a trend, in that the farther up the automobile chain one goes, the fewer modifications you'll find to the car. Perhaps this is largely due to it not being neccessary. A some point on the journey up the chain, the company making the car has thought of it first. A basic Saab in inherently a much better car than an amero-box or a far-eastern, and really doesn't need much in the way of aftermarket to be a good machine. Certainly to get the most performance some work can be doen, but even then Saab provides an adaquate solution in the Aero/Viggen option.
I enjoy Saab for the design principles they've historically applied to automobile design. I also enjoy driving a car that isn't your avg, and Saab does that all by itself, without aftermarket items, and too a point there isn't much that I'd do other than rims on a modern Saab.
