I have not watched the video tape yet or heard any details but Mika was closing in on Shuey right up until he blew his engine in the first inagural United States Grand Prix today. Mika made a good move in changing back to dry tires early which seemed to help him get the edge. Though Shuey closing and passing Coulthard was quite impressive. Fellow team member Ralph had a great run.
I left early to beat the traffic as Shuey had jumped out to a sizeable lead. But was quite amazed as he almost lost the lead when he wiped out. There were quite a few Saabs present south of the track near the Crawfordsville Rd area. Most were 900's, a 9000 Aero, and SCUSA had an Aero wagon with Norcross, GA, plates. I would definitely say that the number of Saabs present matched BMWs and handlely out numbered Audi's and Merecedes(not inlcuding the AMG E55 wagon or ML-series that were present on the track).
The race cars were simply amazing. The acceleration out of the turns in the infield were I spent most of my time(near the painted Foster's label) looked as if the cars were being sling-shot down the straight aways. The the engine note was over whelming. Thanks for earplugs.
I would be looking to see what others thought of the event besides paying $30 to park and the doorless restroom stalls. :-0
Take care,
Norm
