Idiots, liars and plain fools -- dealership tales

Let me be upfront to tell you that this will be a bit of a rant about car salespeople in general.
This past week, while taking a few days off, I went back to a Saab dealer and drove both the 2001 4-cyl and 6-cyl wagons again. Here is what the salesperson there told me -- no incentives ($$-wise, that is), 6.9% on the 2001 models, he "needs" to put $1200 on the invoice and there are no holdbacks. Then he quotes a price for both models. The kicker: His colleague on the internet quoted $900 less to start off our dialogue and told me about Saab incentives for the month of October which are posted on this dealership's own web page.
I do not appreciate being treated like a fool. Saab is sponsoring incentives in cash PLUS incentives on purchasing, all through SFSC. AsI understand it, right now you get a $1000 incentive right off the bat, and another $500 in October. Any idiot can go on edmunds.com and find out that Saab dealers are given a 2.2% holdback on base MSRP ( = $866~ on the V6). That makes buying a Saab tempting for me, but not if I am jerked around or played for a chump.
Anyone have better experiences at a dealer in the NY/NJ/MA/CT area? Thanks.
