I've bought 2 Saabs that originated in web based ads. The first was a 1996 900S with 35,000 kilometers - as there was lots of warranty left I was mainly concerned about general appearance. A relative in the seller's city contacted the seller (whom I've yet to actually talk to) and went to see/drive the car. Report was favourable, negotiation was done via e-mail, shipping (3,000 kilometers by rail/truck) arranged and I saved $CDN2000 over local dealer pricings who couldn't find a used car to fit my requirements anyway. Car now has 103,000 kilometers of great driving. Second car is a 1987 900T Convertible - car had been imported 3 months earlier and the TSN advertisement accurately reflected the car. I met the seller and drove the car. Only hiccup was the price, seller put $x,xxx in ad on TSN but with a Canadian address - deal was negotiated but seller was talking in $US and I was talking in $CDN - we eventually arrived at an agreeable price and the car is a delight with very minor problems (expect a few for a 13 year old car with 125,000 miles!).
