About 24 months ago I had never owned a Saab and I am 50. Now I have four. Three are on lease (2 99s and one 00) and one is a 94 9000 which I bought cash. Saabs are truly great cars and even moreso when you lease. Even though I may end up buying all three lease cars, I thought it made more business sense to lease for three or four years before I bought. The leases barely cover the depreciation on the car. Interest is virtually nil on my 00 wagon.

I have a 99 sedan v6 and an 00 wagon v6. I had always wanted a wagon so I bought it for me but my wife stole it the first day and dubbed it the woman wagon. The sedan, because it is lighter by 200 lbs, is a little quicker but in v6 form both are very fast. The Aero version is quicker still. These cars are so much better than a stodgy poor handling SUV which are prone to rollover.

Why do I have four? In a word safety. The death rates in Saabs are incredibly low. I have numerous posts on this board about how Volvo had 48 deaths in the US in its 98, 99, and 00 cars in 1998 and 1999 while Saab had only 2 deaths. Volvo only sold three times as many cars and if Volvos were as safe as Saabs, Volvos should have had 6 or 7 deaths rather than 48. BMW had 36 deaths and Mercedes 29 for further comparison.

I can feel very comfortable knowing my daughters and my wife are in their Saabs. I get nervous when I hear they are riding in someone else's car.
