Your experience is not encouraging at all. I recently had a similar experience dealing with Sprint PCS and their "customer service" web-site, but I wion't rant about that here.
I'll be in the market for a SAAB during the coming year and, while I'd love a new 9-3, it is probably a bit out of my range at the moment (although the incentives so early in the model have me thinking " Hey, maybe not!").
Anyway, a used SAAB is more likely in my future and I was also very interested in the SAAB Certified Pre-owned Program. But the SAAB USA website is not the greatest. The pre-owned section contains all the "canned" information you mentioned in your message. It also has a function to "Find Your Car". You type in your zip code, the max distance you'd be willing to travel, the model you'd like and a price limit you'd be willing to pay. The instructions then tell you to click the "search" button. But guess what? There is no "Search" button (at least none that found). If you click on anything else, like the SAAB logo or the "Certified" link, you just get taken back to the home page. So, the site seems to be a work in progress.
Best of luck in getting a favorable resolution to your question on the Certified Program coverage on your 9-3. Although I don't have any SAAB shopping experience yet, I recently visited a Toyota dealer with my sister, who is shopping for a new car. Toyota, like SAAB , and most other most other companies these days, also has a "Certified Pre-Owned" Program. One thing I noticed while walking through the lot was that "some" of the cars were clearly marked with a "Toyota Certified Pre-Owned" sticker, covered by a program and warranty similar to the one you described for SAAB. But other used cars on the lot were not so marked. Many of those cars were also covered by some form of warranty, but not necessarily the "Toyota Certified Pre-Owned" Program Warranty. That made me wonder if I'd find a similar situation at SAAB dealers. When I go shopping, I'll specifically ask which cars on the lot are covered by the "SAAB Certified" program, and which are not. If SAAB is actively promoting such a program, they need to get all their dealer up to speed on the correct details. But it doesn't sound like that is happening.
