Autocrossing can be a very safe and entertaining way to learn the limits of your car and your own driving skill. But it is not a video game. There are definitely risks involved and there are real-life consequences to stupidity. Many novice autocrossers do not fully understand that the vehicle's capabilities usually exceeds their own.
I've been to several autocross events and am quite suprised by the video. Not suprised that the driver lost control of the vehicle--that's bound to happen from time to time. What suprised me was how close the spectators were allowed to be to the track. I've never seen spectators that close to the course before. At events that I've run in the organizers have, on occasion, stopped the event because they didn't like where the course workers were in relationship to the course.
Common sense and respect for the dangers involved should have dictated that spectators and workers at the event in the video were jeopardizing their own safety. The organizers should have never let that happen.
