So, all the passionate arguments aside, how do the two compare in longevity and reliability, as well as cost/ease to maintain?

My long-time Saab mechanic (for stuff I couldn't do or didn't have time to do myself)says the newer style Saabs are inferior in at least 3 ways:

1) Manual transmission clutch in the newer style requires pulling the engine to change the clutch plate, etc.

2) Body is less crash-worthy in the newer style because of many less spot welds in the construction.

3) Newer style not built to last like the older 900s (1993 and back)...witness the reliability level with the 94s, 95s, 96s...etc.
