I've picked up a lot from people on this board. Sometimes you learn the most when you put out a theory and end up being corrected. I know I have. I made this post expecting to get some feedback/arguments on it.
I'm glad to have read your post because it made me think more about the problem. I think I now have a good handle on the physical meaning of integrating the torque curve.
This is an exceptionally good BB. I think the Saab community is more populated by those with technical/engineering backgrounds than others as well, so you'll find plenty of knowledgable people around here to contribute to these kinds of discussions. Of course a lot of times the really useful knowledge comes from people who have never been to a day of technical or engineering school, but have real practical knowledge about the cars. Learning about these topics in engineering school is a far cry from applying them to real life problems (ask me how I know ;-)
For those who asked for a copy of the spreadsheet...let me clean it up a little bit and I'll put up a post on it. As time goes on it would be nice to develop it further and make it a more realistic model. One of the hardest things to simulate is takeoff from the line, i.e. 1st gear clutch engagement, for example. In the spirit of Linux, maybe I can "open source" it on Saabnet and make it better!
Cheers,
'Roo
