And I have to say that it did feel pretty cheap. Cheaper than the old 9-3, actually. Of course, I was sitting in a completely stripped down model (about $26,900 sticker)--it didn't even have metallic paint.
The surface material on the dash was bad. The carpet was really el-cheapo. The signal stalks felt like they were about to break off. This stuff concerns me because it will be the same on more expensive models.
Medium gray leather seats looked funnay and didn't seem to match other elements of the interior.
The mesh fabric was awful, but I suppose it won't be there on more loaded models.
IMHO, this car (at $27k) doesn't compare well in terms of interior quality to the old 9-3 SE, let alone a 3-series. I will continue to reserve judgement for more loaded models.
Didn't get a chance to drive, unfortunately.
Sheet metal looked good, if a bit bland. I think there is potential there. Pleasant surprises were trunk space (plenty) and back seat room. Saab did a great job in those area.
Glad to be back in my Aero. Looking forward to driving the new SS, though.
