Perfect project car on Bring A Trailer - but act fast! Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 30 Jun 2016 04:59:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So I opened the Bring A Trailer web site at breakfast this morning, and after picking up my jaw at some of the active auction prices I spotted the perfect project car.
1974 Jensen Healey for only $2,200 (jumped to $3K within an hour!)
It is currently driveable but needs work. Tires are flat spotted, fabric on convertible top is gone (but it comes with a fiberglass factory hardtop), engine gaskets are weeping after 25 years of storage, interior is worn, one revealed rust hole, bumper looks dented. Nothing too daunting, just lots of little things to make it a much better car.
Carbs are new and brake vacuum booster is new. Lotus engine. Perfect for a 15-18 year old son or daughter who wants to wrench on a working car to bring it into better shape. Or as a retiree project with minimal financial downside to keep the Spouse happy.
Less than 12 hours remaining on this auction. Wish I had to space for another car!
An alternative on their auction site is a '63 MGB for $3,900 which is described as being in better condition than the Jensen and potentially a great deal.
Now for some 'crazy' prices: Series 1 Type E Jag convertible for $100K, Alfa Duetto for $26K, and a maybe not too crazy 914 Porsche for $16K.
