I guess the idea was to make it more like a key, according to the sales person. To my way of thinking why not just make it a key? I have a real problem with all these "Rube Goldberg," ultra complicated gizmos to do things a simple switch will do. One of the main reasons I bought a Wrangler is that it's one of the few vehicles that doesn't have all that stuff. You can still get them as real strippers without power windows, locks, alarm, etc. Sometimes I wish I would have stuck with the old 3.8 pushrod engine ('11 and earlier) but the new engine drives so much nicer. And there's the rub. While I hate owning things when I don't understand how they work, I do like what technology does. I like my remote start. I'd like adaptive cruise control. I like my smart phone. So all this stuff is inevitable, there's no stopping it. I can remember when a C900 turbo was considered an ultra-complicated car. Ultimately we'll own cars and have no clue how they work--we probably won't even have to drive them ourselves. We're on the cusp of a real revolution in how we own and use cars. It doesn't bode well for gear head geezers like us.
