My opinion is biased heavily by how they treat employees Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 1 Dec 2016 15:31:17 In Reply to: Re: Strong possibility our next new car will be a Volvo, Steve T, Thu, 1 Dec 2016 11:24:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
38 years as a Salaried employee and I have no pension, no post retirement healthcare, and no life insurance. All these benefits were taken away a few years AFTER the company exited bankruptcy and was again making tens of billions of dollars annually in profits. Meanwhile, Hourly employees continue to receive all three of these benefits when they retiree. So yes, I am bitter about that. I chose to leave, they did not force me out the door as they did with hundreds of others.
On the other hand they paid for most of my Bachelor's degree, effectively all of my Master's degree, and provided me with the work experiences that qualified my for my professional licenses and certifications. Complex emotions for sure.
Everyone is free to make their own choices. I don't see myself ever buying another new GM car, but I might buy a used one. Or maybe not.
