I am still not sure I agree with your Cruze comment. I have test driven the Cruze. I liked it. Excellent car. Terrific front seats. Very, very quiet. Great car. But not nearly roomy enough for family use. Rear leg room is really tight in particular. As far as I remember, it was kind of narrow, too. Model S is nothing like that. It has huge amount of rear leg room and is freaky wide.

While it is true that Acura MDX and Volvo XC90 are priced lower, the resale value of Model S is amazing. Take a look. Total cost of ownership is very competitive. Really, best in class.

Also, fuel savings are very significant. I spend about $400/month on average in fuel for my 550i. I anticipate my electricity cost for Model S to be under $70/month. That is without any long trips using free Supercharging.

There are also other aspects that are very appealing. I have to get gas for my 550i every other day. That is gone. The Model S is always full overnight. I hate automatics, so having no automatic transmission to drive me insane and having strong engine braking like my manual transmission cars is a HUGE deal. No other 7-seat vehicle in the US offers that (other than Model X.) I have had a 7-seater as an extra vehicle -- now I don't have to. That eliminates a big extra expense for me. Autopilot reduces driver fatigue and significantly improves safety. While I enjoy working on my cars, I don't think I will miss having to change oil, etc.
