big old gas guzzling buicks were grampa cars of the past... kind of related to much older Big 3 sedans they used to drive when they were younger...
The grandpas of today probably drove toyotas and minivans in the 80's so encore really makes more of a connection than some giant boat-like sedan. Buicks former customer base may be mostly dead now, so they need to move on..
Ok I'm being a little cynical, but I think it is true that this has changed over the years. I can see how the encore makes a ton of sense for an older demographic.
