Just my thoughts and experience.....
My wife had a 2003 9-5 Aero, it developed the usual rust bubbles at the rear wheel wells, so I traded that in 2013 for a used 2010 Volvo S80 T6, which is essentially the same car as the XC70 minus the wagon parts. The S80 feels heavy (it is heavy) but with the T-6 (turbo 6), it's actually damn fast in a straight line. The handling isn't anywhere close to a SAAB (any SAAB of same vintage). It has a turning radius of an aircraft carrier (I think due to a transverse 6 cylinder engine). The seats are very comfortable which Volvo are famous for but the rear seat knee space isn't as good as a 9-5 or a 9000.
I had a 1995 9000 Aero, I held on to it for 22 years, and last year, it blew the heater core and leaking into the passenger cabin, there are other things that were going south, so I donated it a charity. I was looking for a XC70 with Platinum trim (just for the Xenon headlights). I ended up with a 2015 Volvo V60 R-Design Platinum wagon.
I wanted a wagon, there wasn't a lot of choices. I looked for a SAAB Aero wagon for the longest time but no good one was around. There was a E-Class wagon that's in great shape and on the cheap (for a Mercedes), but just couldn't bring myself into that class of car. Mind you that the V60 wagon (2018 model year and prior) are not big wagons but it suits my needs. I just needed something with a hatch so I can haul things that won't fit into a conventional car trunk.
If you want a larger Swedish wagon, then XC70 is the one, other wagons out there would be a E-Class wagon, Jaguar XF wagon, 3-Series wagon, VW Golf wagon, and now Buick. Wish Audi would bring back the A4 / A6 Avant or Mazda would import the Mazda 6 wagon....
The new Buick TourX is nice but it's a LONG car at 196", longer than XC70 (190+") and the E-Class wagon (194"). My side of the garage is unsuitable for anything longer than 194" so no Buick TourX for me.
No Volvo drives like a SAAB (ok maybe my V60 T6 with Polestar trim :-) comes close. The two Volvos seem to be quite reliable thus far.
Of course if you can go with an SUV, then there are plenty to choose from.
