Cars were light back then. My 95 horse Triumph GT6 could give a lot cars fits that had big horsepower but were heavy. I still remember racing some guy in a built 390 Mustang down a curvey road and he couldn't shake me. Of course a 911S would have been a different story--I'd love to have one from that era but they're getting so expensive.
