TOD is disabled when the light is on. I do not believe you can do anything about the light - I would not mess with the computer that runs it. You will need the light to pull the codes anyway. I would do that sooner rather than later to ensure it's not a physical problem that could leave you stranded somewhere. My money is either on the speed sensors or a fault with the control box or its wiring, but you need to find out what it is IMHO. Have you tried seeing if it'll go into 4lo?

Be VERY careful with that 4L30 at 170k. You are very much in imminent failure territory, very few of them make it to 200k without requiring a rebuild. There is no provision for servicing the transmission whatsoever. You will probably want to take it to a reputable transmission shop for any work. You're of course facing the standard transmission conundrum of "if it still works, why mess with it?" Lots of transmission shops won't work on high mileage automatics because old fluid may be exactly why it continued to work, and new fluid will break it.

I don't know anything about air ride... I didn't think Axioms had an option for air suspension. They do have an electronically adjustable suspension - is that what you're referring to? That system is fantastically expensive as well. You can pretty much gut it, though, and use replacement parts for a '99+ (IIRC) Rodeo. The chassis is pretty much identical between the two.

$2400 is cheap for an Axiom, but it sounds like it's appropriate for the problems it has. You could be staring down the barrel of hundreds or thousands in repairs, so I would have the CEL and TOD lights investigated now.
