Sorry for your bad luck with the Aero. $5000 for it with a bad tranny? Seems high.

Not knowing your needs or driving preferences, some good options come to mind at $200/mo for lease, all in base level trim:

Jetta or Golf
Civic; maybe an Optima (now a much better car)
Corolla - boring but set it and forget it
Ford Focus or Fiesta
Chevy Cruze
