A dump valve that needs to be closed, at idle, and even at high over-run manifold vacuums will be too tight. It will be shimmed, or will have a spring rate that will limit how much it can open when needed, and it will open too late and close too soon.
My bypass valve can be converted to a dump valve by stacking 5 or 6 thick spacer washers in the spring chamber. Not a good idea in my mind.
So, do you have any suggestions for filtering a bypass valve? The only, non accoustic advantage is to avoid the resistance of the return tube.
