For what its worth, RP just looks dirty, not really is that bad in my opinion, I have been using in my 9k race car and drag car and other cars for years with no issues at all and it holds great oil pressure.
Where you aware that Sqr says "NEVER USE MOBIL 1?" They had mulitple bottom end failures with mobile 1 with the Saab Racing team in Sweden and there has been multiple failures in the USA as well. I tested it myself and the oil pressure was horrible, down to 9-11psi at idle and 35psi at cruise, it just got too thin and broke down under the high heat of a turbo charged engine application.
I then tested a bunch of oils, Catrol was horrible as well, very low at idle, 9-10psi and 32psi at cruise once hot. Rp tested much better, 17-18psi at idle and 40psi at cruise. Valvoline tested very well and is what I now use in my street cars, 20psi at idle and 43psi at cruise. Redline was the best I tested, 20-22psi at idle and 45psi at cruise. Rotella tested good, 18psi at idle and 41psi at cruise. Amsoil tested very well too, 20psi at idle and 43psi at cruise.
I tested mostly 10w30 oils for this test and the Rotella was the 5w-40 synthetic oil, all other test with synthetic 10w30 oils.
I dumped the mobil 1 after one day of testing and would never run it in a performance tuned turbo charged car. Sure its great for wear and getting the oil to the top of the motor quickly, but its too thin in viscosity for a turbo charged engine in my opinion. If you check automotions site, it says right there, DO NOT RUN MOBILE 1.
I now run Redline in my race car and RP in my 9k and Valvoline full synthetic 10w30 in the winter and 10w40 in the summer in my dail driver street cars, Viggen and 9k.
That is my experience and opinion on oils,
good luck,
John
