Wondering if anyone has any significant magic to contribute to relieving a mysterious hesitation in my '89 16v 900T. The engine is transplanted into an '84 4dr sedan. I retained the mechanical fuel injection from the 84 and adapted a larger injector to meet the increased fuel demands of the 16v turbo. It works extremely well -- until a year ago when it began to hesitate slightly in all gears and all rpms. THe hesitation appears randomly -- NOT according to temperature, length of travel, altitude, et cetera. It felt like a fuel problem, so I diagnosed everything. I ended up replacing the obvious -- filters, fuel pump, fuel distributor. I turned to electrical and diagnosed APC, computer, replaced plugs, wires, cap , rotor, checked all electrical connections, prayed several times, sacrificed small animals; yet, here I am, still hesitating. I now am on the verge of rebuilding the distributor, then, perhaps the alternator. Three outstanding mechanics have spent time dealing with this thing to no avail. I am open to ANY ideas. Help. My saab used to climb Vail Pass in Colorado over 100mph to 10,400 feet(I'm kinda conservative). Now it gets the hiccoughs.
