I don't know what the new figures actually are, however the ECM is supposed to add between 20 - 30 HP depending on your actual engine, the ITG air filter is claimed to add an amazing 10 HP ? , and the exhaust an extra 6 - 8 HP. That gives a theoretical max gain of 48 HP add this to what you started with and you get 278 HP on the pessimistic side you may only 260 HP.
Yes there are kits out there which promise more overall power than this but at the end of the day the Abbott kit is the most reliable and having met the peolpe who developed this kit I feel happy with what it may do in potential damage terms to my car. Remember there is a reason why manufacturers limit the power output. OK part of this is paranoia, but it is designed to help keep the engine running smoother for longer. The more power you take out of the engine for sustained periods the shorter the life of your engine.
Anyway the power is actually not the main problem with the Viggen, the handling is by far the bigger issue. Anyone thinking about just increasing the power is going to be dissapointed. You will rarely be able to use the extra power unless you change the steering, suspension (shocks/dampers), the awful Dunlop tyres or at least fit the Abbott Viggen rescue kit or another equivalent.
If money is the issue I would start with the handling modifications and then look at the performance bits when you can afford to. At least that way you will be able to enjoy the car more than if you just add the extra power.
Obviously this is just my opinion and as they say in the UK "opinions are like arse holes, every arse hole has got one" Ask around and talk to other people who have had modifications done although I suspect that each of us believe that they selected the best solution available.
Good luck and keep us posted.
