Sorry to nitpick, but the crime that you have been accused of is "reckless" driving. "Wreckless" driving would mean driving without wrecking car. Such action is clearly not a crime at all.

I don't say this to be insensitive to your troubles, I just thought you might like to know. For what it's worth, I do think that you need a lawyer. From you explanation, it seems that the cop who actually wrote the ticket (charged you with the crime) did not witness the offense. At the very least, this probably means that the Sherrif must be present to testify against you. Otherwise, the state has no real evidence to support its charge. The cop can't just come to court and say that the Sherrif told him that you were driving recklessly. This would be heresay, and as such, inadmissible evidence.

Don't take my word for this though. Go talk to someone who knows what they are talking about. It won't be cheap, but neither is an 8 point offense.
