Yellow light is nice for fog because it doesn't reflect of the fog or rain as much as a regular white light. You can either use a regular lamp behind a yellow lens; or use the special all-weather selective yellow filtered lamps behind a clear lens to get the same effect. I have the selective yellow lamps in the foglights of my 1998 900SET and they work very well.
Driving lights are like having an extra set of high beam lights. They are great for the wide open spaces, but no use in town or around other traffic.
