The FoMoCo carb is pretty much junk and your rebuild kit will not have much in it. The parts that wear or warp aren't replaceable. However, I had a FoMoCo on my '68 96 for quite a while and it didn't give me any trouble. Last fall I switched over to the Weber 34ICH which is world's better. Both my Sonett's have Weber carbs, one a 2 barrel 32/36 DGV with the accompanying two barrel manifold. That was a Saab Sport and Rally accessary, so I don't think you'd have a problem at an event with that.
If you keep your FoMoCo, ditch the decel valve as a minimum. The PCV valve is fine to keep. And you really only need to have advance on the distributor. Simplify it as much as you can!
