Hi Dean,

The easiest way to increase HP to the first level is basically bolt-on stuff. You need to get your heads ported along with bigger valves, a 2" flow through exhaust, and a bigger carb. One option is the single barrel Weber 34ICH which uses a standard manifold, or you can go with a two barrel Weber with the two barrel manifold. Either one should be port matched to your heads. This will cost you between $1500 and $2000. After that, you're talking opening the motor up, boring it, balancing it, a more aggressive cam, stronger clutch, etc. Then you need to worry about the transmission, which is a whole other story.

Two resources that can help- Jack Lawrence at Motor Sport Service has race proven parts and competitive prices. Or Mark Ashcraft/Jack Ashcraft. Jack wrote a nice little book on increasing HP in the V4. You might start with that.

Good luck and welcome to Sonett ownership.
