Radiator reservoir: There's supposed to be a tubular crosspiece that bolts between the two suspension towers and runs right across the engine bay, above the transaxle. It does double duty as a brace and a radiator reservoir. Clever, huh? The downside is that its capacity is pretty limited, so a lot of people connect an additional catch tank to the overflow outlet in its filler neck. (Normally this outlet is just connected to a hose that runs out the passenger-side wheel well.) The catch tank makes correct coolant level easier to maintain -- when the engine is hot and the coolant expands, it goes into the catch tank, and then when it cools down it's drawn back into the reservoir. Without the extra tank, any excess just goes out the wheelwell and onto the ground (where it can kill your pets if they happen to slurp it up.)
I don't know what your dome-and-wire gizmo is. It does sound like a windshield-washer pump, and it doesn't sound like anything else I've seen on my Sonett, but who knows? The only washer setup I've seen uses a rectangular fluid bottle, made of white translucent plastic, that slides onto a bent-metal bracket which is screwed to a tab that extends downsard from the above-mentioned brace/reservoir. The pump is built into the lid that screws onto this tank. The pumps I've seen just look like a motor sticking out of a jar lid, rather than a dome, but I suppose those could have been generic replacements. Does the gizmo do anything when you apply 12VDC to the wires?
