My son lives in Brooklyn and he tells me that mice are everywhere. He parks on the street and he has seen the mice jump in and out of his engine compartment. He came home one time and told me his front directional signal on his 2002 Saab SE wasn't working. we opened up the hood and there were remnants of mice nests near his directional signals and the wires were chewed up. So we repaired the wiring and then googled how to get rid of mice in cars.
Is seems that there is mixed success with all the options mentioned. We used a combination of dryer sheets and bars of Irish Spring soap placed strategically around his car (trunk, glove compartment, under hood) and put them in a open plastic soap box. I did the same in my car. He hasnt had the problem again and I haven't had the problem yet.
