Brakes Squeal Posted by Greg Lemon [Email] (#2140) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Greg Lemon) on Sat, 1 Apr 2017 22:43:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My brakes squeal, I am used to getting a squeak every now and then when you apply the brakes, but my right front is squealing while I go down the road, brakes off, a stab at the pedal, turn of the wheel, or change of speed makes it go away (temporarily). Gets worse as I drive more.
The inner pad next to the caliper piston did not have a anti-squeal shim, I tried a homemade one and also today a generic cut to fit piece.
It is better with the homemade and generic shims, but still does it, just not as loud. The pads look almost new, put some brake cleaner on them, dont appear to be any fluids leaking on the brakes.
Sorry for the long post, I have a caliper rebuild kit just because the manual says the seal is supposed to pull the piston back. I notice the Saab brakes are kind of funky with the slanty pads and pivoting caliper. Any Saab tricks before I start throwing money and time at this.
