Vintage Electrical Problem - Sonett Taillights Posted by Scott Paterson [Email] (#13) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Scott Paterson) on Sat, 16 Sep 2017 11:02:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Oh god, my Sonett is running so great right now (100mph on the open, clear highway), but I am having such trouble with my taillights. The fuse is fine, but the problem is that the bulbs push in against a pressure plate and after 45 years, the pressure plate has lost its pressure and no longer pushes back against the inner tip of the bulb, so I was successful at placing aluminum foil between the bulb and the pressure plate (see photo and/or link to my photo gallery) and all was working well until, for some unknown reason, they stopped. The right and left signal lights work just fine. It seems that on the turn signals, the aluminum foil not only touches the tip of the bulb but the metal on the sides, so I tried that with the taillights but to no avail. Does anyone have any tips? Also, is anyone sure of what amp fuse goes in for the taillights. If I remember correctly, it is in the #7 position in box under the left driver's side leg area. Is it a 25/red?
Thanks,
-Scott
