Sonett New Battery Posted by Richard Dee [Email] (#2272) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Richard Dee) on Thu, 16 Aug 2018 08:44:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I need a new battery for my (new to me) 1973 Sonett III. I would like to pay a premium to have an AGM battery that won't leak and damage the metal in the trunk. The battery selector on the Odyssey website specifies either their 34R-790 (792 CCA and 61 Ampere hours) or their 34R-PC1500T (850 CCA and 68 Ampere hours).
I searched my Saab literature for a specification and all I can find is that the Factory Manual calls for a 44 Ampere hour battery.
I have always installed the strongest battery I could fit into my vehicles but now maybe its time to actually use good sense and discretion.
My Sonett only has a 1.7 L engine. Why would I need all those CCA's and Ah's ? (and extra weight).
What do you other Sonett's owners use?
Does anyone know what was actually original?
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
