Ja, forgot about that cute little trunk door in back of the Sonett V4. Kind of tough for getting the grocery bags through (unless all you buy is frozen pizza, potato pancakes, etc.) but works OK for travel if you stick to soft-sided luggage! (Less likely to let rain leak in than Sonett III hatch, too, we reckon...) And non-opening but wrap-around rear window gives a bit more over-the-shoulder visibility than in Sonett III, which has kind of a big blind spot because of wide rear pillars.
So, while we like our Sonett III very much, we still say do not pass up an opportunity to buy a good V4 instead as it has several other advantages as well -- a big one being that flip nose makes working on engine, front suspension, etc. much easier! Column shift vs. III's floor shift offers more passenger foot room, too, plus with a little practice you can shift without taking hands off wheel!
Most of all, remember that they're basically the same car under the skin, so when shopping makes more sense (in our opinion) to buy on basis of condition and/or personal preference rather than worry about specific model.
