No crack.
It does take a lot of thought, and time. Get rear lamps out, with all wiring. Remove the interior, except the headliner. Remove the rear window and vent windows. Disassemble the fuel neck from the body, and the vapor recovery tube too. Loosen the brace at the back of the car, it holds the rear glass release assembly. Remove the release assembly. Under the bottom/back of the body: loosen the bolts for the clamp bar. On early Sonetts the SMALL bumper comes off, because it mounts to the frame at two points. The later Sonetts will have had the bumper removed by this time as it is in the way. Want more?
There are bolts that are at the back of the rocker panels, they need to come out. One each side. They will be a hassle, you may have to CUT them. Remove the door jamb catches- all the way. Now get to work drilling out the rivets around the door openings. When you get the front kick plates off, you can see a bolt on each side- at the base of the cowl. They are a hassle, they need to come out. You will loose skin. Loosen the dash, it helps. (by the way, I gather you have removed the doors already) There are some small rivets just behind the door openings, where the vent window stainless steel is attached to the chassis. They need to be drilled out. Take off the wipers, back off the nuts and push them down into the holes. Drill out all of the rivets at the front of the cowl. Heater box cover needs to be removed to get at some of the rivets. There are six little swivel braces that go under the dash top. They will fall when you drill out the rivets, or on early Sonetts; remove the screws. There is also a small screw in the center of the dash top that needs to be removed. Are you still wanting to do this?
The worst part: the bonding mastic is a bear. You will have to devise a tool that will get into the glue and cut the seal. When you finish this horrible task, you can do the same around the wheel openings...everywhere. They did not intend for the bodies to come off! (By the way- the roll bar needs to be UNSCREWED from the hinges above it.)
The body does not want to come off. Period. Two people with a THIRD guiding is best. The windshield comes up, as the sides are pulled OUT and up, as the whole mass is lifted up and back CAREFULLY CAREFULLY.
Easy. Now put it back on!!!!!
