You forgot to mention scraping off all the old foam and hardened cement, an exercise that was previously used as punishment duty in Swedish maximum-security prisons until the International Human Rights act specifically banned it.

I did eventually fix mine, but it's really hard to get it to look good, and you only get ONE, count 'em, ONE chance to do it. Can't do it a little at a time, either... it's basically an all-or-nothing operation. Yeah, if it's really doggy, you've either gotta fix it or learn to live with it (or learn to live with the rugged, bare-bones appeal of a bare fiberglass ceiling) but if yours is only drooping a little and looks good otherwise, you'll almost certainly get a better-looking result with the plastic-strip trick.

(For the record, before I did mine myself, I took it to a professional upholsterer for an estimate. His comment: "I can't do it, and I don't know how they did it in the first place." His best guess was that the original headliner was applied to the rear body shell BEFORE it was installed on the chassis...)
