I have driven Saab’s off and on starting with the 67 96, 2 stroke that I had in college. I have always felt that the car was a safer car ( I have Volvos when I don’t have a Ssab) I have always wanted to consider a SONETT, but I have always passed on the possibilities,, at this point I can afford a 30 year old car that needs to be rebuilt….they all seem to need a little TLC.
My question is now that I have looked at the detailed construction/ assembly I have noticed that the car is built like a Cessna 150 (the plane) out of fiberglass.
How safe/unsafe is the car and what can be done to make it reasonable in a collision with a SUV? or is it a done deal the SUV wins.
I have assumed that the superior handling and undersized power make the basic package ok but my 85 SPG makes me feel like I might have a chance..
Can the car be fitted with a race type roll cage that allows for a normal 200 lb person can get in and out of the car as a weekend driver? I see the CRX’s fitted up this way.
What do you think? …
