The modifications to the firewall are expected, remember a very rusty car. It needs to be extensivly repaired anyhow.I would expect to mate the 900T engine with the Transaxel it is already mated with. The stock gas tank will be removed in favor of a fuel cell. That should make room for the passenger compartment to be moved back a bit. The firewall can be made to intrude some in the center of the cab. The linkage from the stock trans may be tricky. But most importantly the front end needs to be left intact, maybe a hood scoop will be necessary but nothing further. I know all too well the fickle nature of the stock transaxel and added horsepower, hence the need to replace with a sturdier one. I don't need to replace transmissions every Rally Stage like the 01 Subaru WRX team, besides they have more disposable cash than I do!
Another important thing is to keep the car a FWD and as neutraly balanced as possible. If I had to make that much of a change to the Sonett I may as well build a 99turbo Rally Car. Great cars but much heavier and a lot higher center of gravity AND just how many Sonetts are out there Racing in Pro and Club Rally!
