I don't think it's something easy or inexpensive. I don't know whether or not later 1970s 96s had injected engines or not, but if they did that could be a source. Otherwise your routes would be a) finding a fuel injection system from another car with similar airflow qualities to pirate an injection system from (like a Bosch L-jetronic or something). Or b) you could go with TWM throttle bodies (http://www.twminduction.com) that replace Weber and SU carbs and fit onto manifolds the same way. However this requires buying an ECU also, and a good many other fuel injection parts. The injection likely won't make more power than carbs (it might be slightly more, or about the same), but it will be more consistent. You won't have flat spots like carbs, you won't have temperature issues, and other carbureted maladies should be eliminated too. However you will pretty much have to do dyno testing to dial things in. It might be worthwhile on a high strung engine which you intend to drive often, or in varying elevations or climates (ie a rally/hillclimb car).
Ciao,
Bryce Ludwig
