I only have sonett III but in trying to find a V4 I have learned that the most difficult thing to find seems to be a good rear window. Jack ashcraft makes a plexiglass version for a lot less but not for free in anyway shape or form..(no complaints, at least the man works to make something available...I do wish he'd return my calls, though.)
No rust would be dreamlike. The engine is easy to work on and parts are not all that hard to find, though it is getting harder to find the RIGHT parts these days. If the fiberglass is all stress-cracked up and you want the car to be cherry, you'll have some really hard work ahead of you or a bit of a money pit. Make sure the tranny is in Good condition....think a few grand for a good rebuild. They are a weak spot unless you are super diligent in keeping the oil clean.
Is it worth it? I would say yes. There are so few that the originality would almost be worth it...but I do, in fact, prefer my sonett over my 99EMS. Not for everything, but for just cruisin' around on back roads and what not, sonetts are amazing fun.
Good luck
