It's really a pretty bomb-proof engine, but I'd take a decent set of screwdrivers for things like carb. adjustment, removing the carb top to check for crud in the carb area. Bring a can of carb cleaner to clean it out, flush the jets, etc.. Maybe some good gasket sealer, so in case something is leaking *really* bad, you can make a temporary seal.

I always carry a bunch of extra 8 amp "euro " style fuses for the odd electrical quirk, but as far as just driving it home goes, fuses aren't really critical.

Make *SURE* the oil idiot light is working right (it should be on when ignition is on, but go off as *soon* as you start the car). This is a really obvious point, but in the excitement of driving the car away it's easy to overlook the obvious.

One can of "fix a flat" in case the tires are getting old/rotten/cracked.

My '69 Sonett V4 had been sitting for 6 years without being driven. All I had to do was put a new battery in, and replace the fuel pump (the pump's seals had dryed and were shot).

The suggestion for checking the brakes and brake fluid IS REALLY CRITICAL. The Lockheed brakes on these cars are in my opinion one of the most troublesome parts of the car. You say it's a driver, but how long has it been sitting? If it's been sitting for a while, the Master cylinder tends to get pitted and the primary and secondary cups can experience "leak by" symptoms. If not, you're probably fine here. You might want to flush and bleed the brake fluid, just to be safe...

Most importantly, HAVE FUN DRIVING IT HOME!!! Don't get stressed about something critical breaking, because it probably won't!

WELCOME TO THE SONETT BROTHERHOOD!
