Timing chain in 900T16 [saabnet.com]

Subject: Timing chain in 900T16 ================= OK, I can't find my Haynes manual, but I'm not sure it'll help anyway, and all I have is a Chilton manual that's remarkably content-free...
I have a 1989 16-valve Turbo 900... for the last few thousand miles, at neutral throttle, it makes a rattling sound that sounds like the timing chain dragging over the edge of some sort of cast part. It doesn't do this under acceleration or deceleration, and it's hard to discern at less than 55mph in 5th. Performance is solid, so I am doubtful the tensioner has self-destructed to where the valve timing has been affected. I am more suspicious that the cam chain is flapping around and the tensioner is slack, and needs to be tightened up.
Anyway, the question is, how to go about doing it? Chilton talks all about taking the chain out and refitting it, but nothing about how to make sure the chain is properly tensioned. Anyone know how to do it?
Off-list email is probably better... I auto-file Saabnet stuff.
