9-5 Sedan Summary

MODEL YEAR 2000 UPDATES: 9-5 SEDAN

NORCROSS, Ga. - The Saab 9-5 Sedan is often lauded for its synthesis of performance, safety, design and value. For 2000, Saab continues to refine the popular sport sedan with enhancements to each of these core attributes.

New 9-5 Aero Sedan debuts
On the heels of introducing the potent Saab 9-3 Viggen, Saab brings another high-performance variant to market - the 9-5 Aero. This sporty sedan features a high output turbocharged, 230 horsepower 2.3L 4-cylinder engine that is available with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The 9-5 Aero builds on the performance heritage of its predecessor, the 9000 Aero, while adding all of the innovative technologies and luxury amenities of the current 9-5 model line. The new Aero features a sport chassis with performance-optimized suspension, upgraded brakes and 17-inch alloy wheels with low profile tires.

SE Models Feature V-6 Engine
For 2000, all Saab 9-5 SE Sedans feature the 3.0L V-6 light pressure asymmetrically turbocharged engine as standard equipment. This powerplant generates 200 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 229 lb.-ft. of torque from 2,500 to 4,000 rpm. All SE models also receive a standard automatic dimming rearview mirror that improves night-driving visibility.

Entry level Saab 9-5 Sedans will continue to offer the 170 horsepower 2.3L 4-cylinder light-pressure turbocharged engine. These models can be upgraded with a new Premium Package, which includes leather interior, a memory function for the driver's side 8-way power seat and a 240-watt, 9-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system.

Standard Traction Control System (TCS) and Sunroof
For enhanced driving control in inclement weather conditions, the Saab Traction Control System (TCS) is now standard equipment on all 9-5 models (previously only available, standard, on V-6 models). Saab's TCS is an "all-speed" system that modulates ABS braking and electronic throttle to optimize the traction of the front drive wheels.

Saab also now provides a sunroof as standard equipment on all 9-5s.

New 16" Alloy Wheels on Entry Level 9-5's
All entry level 9-5 Sedans will come standard with newly designed 16-inch ten-spoke light alloy wheels, while 9-5 SE Sedans continue to feature the existing, premium 16-inch five-spoke light alloy wheels.

All 9-5 Sedans offer an optional 17-inch BBS multi-spoke design alloy wheel. It features a bright diamond satin paint finish that appears like a polished wheel but provides outstanding durability.
