It doesn't happen very often so I thought you might like to see the results of excessive turbo boost. It blew the head gasket, sucked water into the cylinder under deceleration which then caused a hydraulic lock. On inspection I found that the wastegate rod had siezed in the "no pressure" position. -Roger Beckett
