SAAB'S MAY 1999 SALES MORE THAN DOUBLE COMPARED TO 1998
Saab announces its best May sales month since 1986
Norcross, GA - Saab Cars USA, Inc., the U.S. importer and distributor of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles, announced sales of 3,944 units during May 1999, a 111.7 percent leap over May 1998 sales (1,858 units). This represents the best overall sales month Saab has posted since June 1992. Year-to-date Saab is also enjoying continued strong sales momentum. Sales are up nearly 50 percent over the same period in 1998 (15,028 vs. 10,107).
Saab 9-3 sales remain strong, including sales of the 9-3 Convertible. Saab sold 2,246 9-3 models in May, including 942 convertibles. This compares to 544 convertibles retailed in May 1 998.
The all-new Saab 9-5 Wagon, in only its second month of sales, was delivered to 298 new customers, compared to 241 units retailed in April 1999. Sales of the Saab 9-5 sedan tripled compared to May 1998 (1,371 units vs. 462 units).
