Hello Evan ! If the problem you are referring to is found in the Saab 9000 I know the reason for it. The evaporator unit of the AC-system is located close to the engine compartment. When the car is parked, the air volume surrounding the evaporator is heated up by the engine resulting in increased air humidity in the evaporator area. When restarting the car after 0 - 2 hours the humid air is blown through the HVAC-system onto the windshield. If the windshield surface temperature is below the dew point of the humid evaporator air you will notice significant mist on the windscreen. To avoid the problem you must either delay the start of the compartment fan (which will give the AC-compressor time to cool of the air volume around the evaporator) or distribute the humid air to the floor outlets during the 1st 30 seconds after starting the car. This is problem can be annoying sometimes but it's is much worse on for instance the Opel Omega.
