Sounds like your Saab was not serviced by a Saab-wise technician. '92 was a good year for the 900; unfortunately, if it has overheated - especially more than once, you may well be looking at a head gasket job soon, too. The aluminum head is not very high-heat tolerant; the upside is this is not a horribly difficult job, if you want to do it yourself. Just make sure you have the head machined flat (if necesssary) and get the appropriate-thickness copper head gasket. I had an '97 900S with about the same mileage that the previous owner had "serviced" at Firestone, K-Mart, Sears, and establishments of that ilk. I ended up spending a lot of time and money undoing what that bonehead had done, but the car was perfect when I was done - and worth every penny I put into it! Your Saab is worth saving, if it hasn't been too abused in its previous life. It's up to you to do the right thing. I'm sure there is a local Saab club chapter that would be happy to help you. Too bad some dirthead thought I should not have been using the passing lane to legally pass his little turd-box Ford Rangefire P/U (pee-euw) with my beautiful Saab. He swerved abruptly into my lane and slammed on his brakes - causing a very startled Dennis to slam into the back of his steel step bumper (my car was totaled). I still am incredulous, even after a year and a half.
