In the "News for '87" supplement to the specifications and servicing manual, it states that the 1987 1/2 9000 has a water cooled turbo unit, and that the oil change interval can be extended to 20,000 kilometers. Even to me that seems excessive, but it's there in black and white. I can send you a scanned page if you have doubts....
