It happens to all old 900s. The base must be removed and reuphostered. For my 85 4 door turbo, which is now my son's car, I found a car uphosterer that did everything for about $125 with some material he had for Fords. It was a close enough match that nobody noticed. The liner is easy to remove through a hatchback. It can be removed through the truck of a four door if it is very carefully slightly deformed. If an uphosterer insists on removing the windshield it will be more costly. Good luck.
